Biography Alexander was a son of Capt. Adolphus H. C. G. F. von Dachenhausen and Margaret Elizabeth Hunter. He married three times. His first wife was Bessie Logue Steele. They married in 1897.[1] They later divorced. He married next, on 22 December 1906, Josephine Dickson. They divorced in 1907. His third wife, and the mother of his son, was Edith Olive Hall. They married in 1911.[2] News Items The Daily News Denver, Colorado 31 March 1907, page 4 SPEEDILY WED AND SPEEDILY SEEK DIVORCE Romance of Talented Vaudeville Artist and So-Called Baron Brief and Not Sweet. Even a baron can make a poor husband, if the statements made by Mrs. Josephine von Dachenhausen (nee Dickson) in a divorce complaint filed in the district court are true. She married Alexander von Dachenhausen, an employe of the Denver Gas company, and said to be a baron, three days before last Christmas, after a speedy courtship of about three weeks, and now she is saying all sorts of things about the so-called baron. Mrs. von Dachenhausen was quite well known in Denver and filled in on several occasions with the Bellows Stock company at Elitch's, having considerable dramatic talent. She was working for the gas company when her romance with the "baron" developed. They went to Colorado Springs on their honeymoon, and an European trip was hinted. Clandestine meetings with other men was charged to the wife, according to her complaint, soon after marriage. Upon their return to Denver Mrs. von Dachenhausen was ordered to the hospital by the physician, as she had suffered a total collapse, but she says her husband insisted upon her returning to their home at the end of ten days to entertain some of his friends. Scant table supplies for their own use and lavishness on the sideboard for his friends, is another allegation. Silk waists were tabooed by the husband because it cost too much to clean them, she declares. Having to do her own work is outlined by the lady as a cause for action, and she winds up her recital by asking alimony and permission to resume her maiden name.
