At the death of his fat her he took over the leasehold of Fischbeck. Peter was strongly involved on behalf of the Duke, Christian August of Sle svig-Holsten-Sønderborg-Augustenborg. He was a fried of the Duke who own ed the Graasten and Fischbeck Estates and as by the break-out of the w ar in 1848 they feared that the Danes would confiscate the Dukes silverwar e, this was loaded on a wagon and when the wagon was loade Peter sent t he coach on an errand into the stable and hilself took the reins and dro ve away remarking, that what only one man knows may remain a secret – a nd he was the only one who knew where it was hidden. After the Three-Year-War in 1850 the leasehold of Fischbeck was taken fr om him and he followed the Duke into exile to Prinkenau, from where he emi grated to Sweden and bought the farm Norrborg by Zirekøbing by Landskron a.
